Historical Society Visits Jacksonville Train Show

John Hendricks, West Nassau Historical Society President, reported their visit to the Jacksonville Train Show:  "We met lots of contacts and people interested in Callahan Depot, Nassau history and railroads and passed out 100 fliers for Rail Road Days.

"We made enough from donations to pay for the entry fee for the show.  This was the most visitors to Jax train show in years.

"They had another  event going on in the next convention room: Donna 26.2 breast cancer pre race show which brought more visitors to the train show. "

In other news:   "Jan and Jerry stafffed our table at the Train show.  Grant and Donnie painted the middle section of the caboose.

"We have guests coming to our general meeting this Thursday, February 25th, at 7 PM.  University of Florida  Professor and Musuem of Natural History curator Bruce MacFadden and Hilliard resident Trueman Hill will cover fossils, teeth, and fragments found in Nassau and Florida.  Bring a friend.

"There is another work day planned for this Saturday as well.

"We will need help getting the depot, caboose and grounds ready for Railroad Days in the coming weeks. We will need all the help we can get."

Here are some photos he brought back.
