August 20 Driver of the Week

Charlie Gaskins, #9, is the Callahan Speedway Driver of the Week for August 20, 2011.  He has been driving Go-Karts for about 15 years.  His number relates to his old Pop Warner Football number when he began racing.  Charllie drives a Prowler in all adult classes including 375 pro-heavy and 400 super heavy.  He and his wife, Crystal, live in Callahan with their two sons: Marcus and Coby.  Charlie works for Burger Roofing of Jacksonville.  His sponsors include Jerry Gaskins Racing, Miranda Flowers and Gifts, M&M Signs and TJ Newton Motor Sports. 

September 3 Driver of the Week

Though this is only his seventh race, Frankie McCance is the Callahan Speedway Driver of the Week for September 3, 2011.  His father, Barry McCance, drove sprint cars and was #20 so he said Frankie could be  #21.  Barry traded his Sprint car for two Go-Karts not long ago.  Frankie is in the 12th grade at Englewood High School and lives with his mother, Jeanie Horton, in Jacksonville.  He hopes to go to the University of Northwestern Ohio to become a mechanic.
