May 7, 2011 Driver of the Week
Nick Ruby, 11 years old, is the Callahan Speedway Driver of the Week for May 7, 2011. Driving #72 in this photo, Nick is in the 5th grade at Kernan Trail Elementary and lives in Jax Beach. Although he's only been racing this past couple of months, he's already won a money race just last week. He lives with his parents, Tony and Michelle Ruby and one brother, Zachary, 9. Zachary isn't racing yet. They haven't had a chance to make any changes to the Go-Kart as it is new, but it will probably become #11 to commemorate Tony's racing number.
May 21, 2011 Callahan Speedway Driver of the Week
Until two months ago, Raymond Cassidy hadn't driven Go-Karts since 1985 and 1986 following an accident involving his father. Now he is the Callahan Speedway Driver of the Week for May 21, 2011. His father drove #4. Raymond said he needed two "4's" because he was "Phat Daddy," thus he is #44. He drives a Prowler in the Super Heavy Box Stock 400 class. He and his wife, Lacey, live in Callahan with their three children: Layla, 7; Billy, 5 and Collin, 4. His children are not racing -- yet. He works at Keith Pierson Toyota in Jacksonville. He served as a medic in the US Army during Iraqi Freedom.
